For over 60 years, BDP’s continued success had relied on talented people across the practice. As a truly multidisciplinary design collective, our in-house team of experts span the spectrum of the built environment and gives us special status and capability in the design world. Our design philosophy, Placemaking for a Modern World, reflects our user-centred approach and the need for us to stay ahead in a rapidly changing world. This ethos has led to the creation of many significant buildings and places.

One Global Team

BDP is proud to have 19 studios across the world. By joining BDP, you will not only be given the chance to work on a wide range of projects in different locations, but you will also have the chance to collaborate with designers from diverse backgrounds and cultures, providing a dynamic and stimulating work environment.

 

Studio Life

From Toronto to Shanghai, BDP enjoys creating a fun and inclusive social atmosphere for our people. We offer regular studio-based and international events and activities, both online and in-person, to help build connections and foster a sense of community among our team.

Continuous Learning

BDP believes in encouraging the growth and development of our employees. That's why we offer a wide range of learning opportunities, both formal and informal, to help our people acquire new hard and soft skills, and advance in their careers.

Our competency-based appraisal scheme allows individuals to discuss their performance, career aspirations and development needs including the option to participate in our mentoring program.  This is supported by our internal online learning platform, Vitruvius, which houses over 300 training and staff development courses from interpersonal skills, to comprehensive training for BIM software for new users.  Each profession also hosts CPD events to help colleagues keep their skills and knowledge up to date.

There are also plenty of learning opportunities such as Show and Tell presentations and Design Forums, where people share their ideas on design alongside interesting and unique projects.  Our innovation group, BDP Lab also brings together formal and informal research and thought leadership across the practice, running practice-wide initiatives to encourage innovation and new thinking.

BDP actively fosters an inclusive organisation and aims to create an environment where people can be themselves and have a sense of belonging in the place where they work. We want our teams to be diverse at every level, and therefore we encourage applications from people with a variety of backgrounds, skills, and professional and life experiences.

BDP also provides an extensive Employee Assistance Program to support our people’s needs offering a variety of services including counselling alongside advice on family, legal, financial and health issues.

Our variety of employee forums helps us to create an engaged, inclusive organisation, ensuring that people’s voices are heard, and cultural and internal policy changes can be driven and made. These forums are run for and by employees at all levels and in all disciplines.

BDP Mind: our cross-discipline employee mental health forum made up of trained Mental Health First Aiders, who strive to improve awareness of mental health in the workplace, offering events, resources, and opportunities to enhance employee well-being.

 

BDP Life: our forum for two-way communication between representatives of the leadership and employees of BDP, allowing employees to submit new ideas and be consulted on strategy and policy decisions.
