Engineering the Past

Head of Dublin studio David Brennan is a speaker at a study day presented by the Irish Georgian Society and the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht, Rural and Regional Affairs in association with the CIF Register of Heritage Contractors. David will present on retrofitting 21st environmental control systems into the historic National Gallery of Ireland alongside Kevin Blackwood of Kevin Blackwood Associates.

The Dublin studio building services engineers designed the new air conditioning and environmental control systems and work included the refurbishment and upgrading of the historic Dargan (1864) and Milltown (1903) wings together with the provision of new accommodation for the collector, staff and gallery operators. This was a complex, three dimensional task and our engineers applied BIM in order to fully define the intended services installation to the project team and ensure that all elements would fit into the limited space available.
