Cavendish III Team Take Three Peaks Challenge

A group of BDP engineers are part of a collaborative team of over 40 people taking on this year’s 24 hour National Three Peaks Challenge. Civil and structural engineers Nicholas Clegg, Lilly Sanderson and Giulio D’Andrea, together with building services engineer William May and acoustician Keir Hannan, are joining a team of industry professionals who are all working together to deliver the new Cavendish III and shared facilities hub projects for the University of Cambridge. The team includes the University of Cambridge, Bouygues, Currie & Brown, AECOM, Jestico + Whiles, NBBJ, Hoare Lea and Ramboll and their challenge involves a 23 mile trek across Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon which are the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales. The new Cavendish III includes high-tech specialist and teaching laboratories, lecture theatres and seminar rooms. The laboratories will be some of the highest performing in the world with stringent vibration criteria, climate controls and electromagnetic shielding and the basement is designed on a 2m thick raft to provide mass and reduce vibration transition. Construction is expected to start in January 2019.
