Surface Design Show

When: 13th February 11.30 - 13.30
Where: Business Design Centre, London

Acoustics director Richard Grove and lighting director Colin Ball will jointly give the keynote presentation at the launch of the Quiet Mark Acoustic Academy at the Surface Design Show 2020. They will present Resonance: A Sense of Place, discussing how our relationship with sound and light has developed over the course of our evolution. They will further explain how sound is interpreted in the visual cortex to map in 3D the size and geometry of spaces, to work coherently with our visual senses to create an overall sense of place. Richard and Colin will reference some of their recent projects including the UCL New Student Centre, UCL Wilkins Terrace, Enterprise Centre, Paddington Lawn, Roehampton University Library and National Army Museum.

The Quiet Mark Acoustic Academy is a new online platform which will further equip and empower architects, builders and designers with a guide to expertly verified leading acoustic solutions for every building application area. Timed to celebrate the 60th anniversary year of the Quiet Mark associated UK Noise Abatement Society, this special launch event will feature a high-calibre panel of thought-leader industry speakers sharing experiences and their passion for acoustic design.
