XJTLU 10th Anniversary Opening Ceremony of South Campus, Suzhou

Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University celebrated its 10th anniversary and the official opening of its new south campus in Suzhou on Tuesday 26th July. BDP has masterplanned the new campus and the studios in Shanghai, London, Glasgow and Manchester have provided the architectural and landscape architectural designs for the various buildings.

The masterplan is a large-scale campus with world-class teaching, laboratory and international research facilities. The completed buildings which include the research centre, academic exchange, humanities, design and science buildings, cluster around a central landscaped courtyard with a sunken Plaza of Honour. Students will occupy the buildings from September whilst a new business school has started on site and is due for completion in 2017. 

Professor Youmin Xi, Executive President of the university gave the main speech with contributions by Janet Beer, Vice-Chancellor of University of Liverpool, Jim Addison, British Council China and Jian Shen, Director Jiangsu Department of Education.

XJTLU is a collaboration between Xi’an Jiaotong University and the University of Liverpool with a 10,000 strong student population acclaimed as a model for joint Sino-foreign education and enjoying partnerships with top companies in China and internationally.
