BDP wins Design Practice of the Year

We won Design Practice of the Year at the interior design Mixology Awards on 20 June at Old Billingsgate in London. Recognising the most dynamic and innovative interior design communities, the judges said "BDP’s projects surpass client’s aspirations, ensuring the resulting environments are exceptional and appropriate. Their work spans the full range of building types and locations, from small offices to extensive complexes comprising retail, office and hotel developments. BDP has a track record of successful partnerships with many long-term clients, from Google and IKEA to the Houses of Parliament and Cambridge University."

Chair of design and head of workplace Mark Simpson said: “We are enormously proud and honoured to take this award against top-drawer competition. To have received it after I was awarded the Henry Pugh Outstanding Contribution last year is both humbling and gratifying. I was great friends with Henry and to receive an award in his name was very special.

However I think winning the Design Practice of the Year this year is even more special. It means a lot to me and our whole team and, I hope, to our clients. It validates what we do but, more importantly, why we do it. I would like to dedicate the award to John Barker who was at BDP when I first joined the practice in 1985 and who passed away this year. He was an amazing man, everyone’s mentor, friend and tutor who is sorely missed by his family, friends and all who worked with him. John would have been very proud of this award.”
