Pebble Mill Life Sciences Building goes in for planning

Birmingham studio has submitted a planning application for a life sciences building at Plot 4 Pebble Mill, the former home of the BBC Midlands TV studios. The building is one of the last remaining development sites within the Pebble Mill masterplan which we have been working for the past eight years. 10,600 sqm of multi-tenanted accommodation comprises an advanced cancer treatment centre, including Birmingham’s first proton beam therapy suite and NHS dental theatres. At ground level, a civic presence reflects the uses within the building and provides a link between the neighbouring sites; building height and mass also contribute to this sense of connection. A design approach of interlocking, precisely crafted light and dark elements creates a jewel at the centre of the science park.
