Project details

Boxpark is constructed of stripped and refitted shipping containers and includes 96 units arranged around a covered courtyard space made available for year-round events.

The scheme is a modern-day piazza which will become the area’s focal point for people to hang out and enjoy a wild and ever-changing variety of food, drink and free events.

 

Brief

  • develop a new pop up mall as part of the mixed-use Ruskin Square development
  • kickstart Croydon’s rennaisance

Results

Over 10 years, Boxpark Croydon has operated alongside two more Boxpark branches at Shoreditch and Wembley to achieve the following social-economic impact:

  • support more than 330 independent businesses
  • directly create over 800 FTE jobs and £84m in wages - majority held by residents local to each site
  • generate over £250m spend onsite and across the local town centers
  • generate an additional gross value added (GVA) of over £130m to the London economy in new jobs and business investment
