Project details

This scheme is an exemplar of retail regeneration which transforms Liverpool city centre.

We masterplanned a 42-acre area of Liverpool, creating a mixed-use  development of new and refurbished buildings, streets and spaces.

New elements include 148,500 sq m (1.6m sq ft) of retail space, bars, restaurants, a bus station, BBC studios and a remodelled park bordered by a hotel, 600 apartments and new multi-screen cinema.

We were concept architect for five buildings and executive architect for a further nine – but the work of many architects is represented here. Our landscape designers were responsible for all aspects of public realm work and our lighting team designed for buildings and public areas across the entire scheme.

The positive impact on the city and the North West will be felt far beyond the European City of Culture celebrations of 2008.
