Maggie's Night Hike 2009
To kick off the Open House weekend, BDP’s London lighting designers will reveal a stunning architectural lighting scheme in Battersea Power Station’s turbine hall during this year’s London Night Hike. The installation, directed by Martin Lupton and Elinor Coombs, uses the latest colour changing LED lights from Philips Lighting. A second surprise light installation will also give visitors a chance to leave their light mark on the night. The event will be photographed by BDP's photographer Sanna Fisher-Payne.
A group of BDP employees will also be participating in the Night Walk on Friday, 18th September raising money for Maggie’s along the route.

About London Night Hike 2009
The London Night Hike is a 20 mile adventure around late night London starting with a vibrant opening party at City Hall against the stunning backdrop of Tower Bridge. Our partnership with Open House, London’s leading architecture education charity, allows our Nighthikers exclusive access to many of London’s most iconic landmarks along the way and includes a unique night flight on the London Eye and a chance to visit the Maggie’s London Centre designed by Lord Richard Rogers.
Every two minutes somewhere in the UK someone is diagnosed with cancer, Maggie’s Centres are here to deal with this bombshell providing free emotional and practical support to anyone who has been affected by this life-changing disease. They can now offer this support in London at the Maggie’s Centre in London and have plans to build 5 more centres in England and Wales by 2012 to help many more thousands of cancer sufferers and their families.
Maggie’s is an innovative cancer charity providing a programme of support that empowers people with what they need to get through their diagnosis and to learn to live with, through and beyond cancer. They provide all of this in stunning inspirational centres where anyone affected by cancer can turn for help. People can go there if they've been recently diagnosed or have been living with cancer for decades. The centres are also open to friends, family members or carers supporting those with cancer.
