Lighting's Carbon Footprint

Mark Ridler, BDP's lighting director is taking part in a round table discussion organised by CIBSE Journal entitled: "Lighting's Carbon Footprint". Discussion is being filmed/recorded for publication in the September edition of the Journal.

More about the event:
How can key supply chain players in the building engineering industry promote lighting efficiency and provide the tools and technologies to radically reduce lighting’s substantial carbon footprint?

- Why is lighting’s contribution to global warming so neglected, when it’s the single biggest aspect of a larger building’s carbon footprint?

- Are lighting controls and automation the ultimate answers to saving energy in big environments such as offices and flats? Why are these being neglected?

- What do we do about schools, which are a special but important sector with their own specific needs and problems?

- Are lighting manufacturers in danger of overselling new ‘ultra-efficient’ technologies, which could backfire in terms of excessive efficiency claims made?

- Can future technology save us (eg, OLEDs), or should we be going for natural lighting?
