Mark leads the lighting design specialism. His role includes both project work and winning new commissions.
Mark believes that collaboration is essential for great design. He has recruited a vibrant team from varied backgrounds including product designers, artists, engineers, theatre designers and architects effectively forging them into a winning force in international lighting design.
Human interaction with architecture through the medium of light is central to his philosophy and practice.
Mark is regularly invited to speak internationally. Last year in Berlin and Denmark, this year he was invited to Mexico to speak at an OLED Summit in June 2010 alongside Ingo Maurer. He serves on various technical committees for ILE, has authored the PLDA ethics policy and is one of the founders of the Joined Up Lighting initiative.
What is the most exciting innovation in lighting design?
It hasn’t happened yet, we need to discover how to store light and redeploy it in the dark. Light without lights.
