South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service

The building comprises two main components, an operational community fire station and the services’ headquarters.

Architecturally these components are expressed as two interlocking L-shaped elements, a blue engineering brick operational fire station and a red brick headquarters joined together by the symbolically important appliance bay.

As well as the operational facilities the community fire station encompasses business facilities, informal learning and social areas, and a direct visual connection to the ‘blue light’ function via large glazed screens between the foyer and the appliance bay.
