At the 9-10 March Harrogate conference 'Transforming the Environment - Practical Lessons in Creating the Environment for Care' BDP's healthcare champion Martin Sutcliffe spoke in a workshop devoted to collaborative working in *ProCure 21.  The workshop followed an NHS-Industry conference in autumn 2004 and was organised by Be: Collaborating for the Built Environment.

Carl McKenzie, engineering director, published an article in Health Estate magazine for March 2005: 'Green Procurement meets energy targets', showing how the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton will meet the new mandatory targets for energy and environment.

Richard Saxon CBE, BDP's director of strategic marketing, led a senior DTI delegation to two hospitals in southern France as part of the initiative "Learning from French Hospitals".  The 10 March visit was to hospitals in Grasse and Aix en Provence, designed by BDP's French partner practice, Groupe 6.  The French combination of low construction cost and high patient and staff amenity is an exemplar for the UK hospital construction programme.
