Graham McClements

Director, architecture, head of workplace

London/New Delhi

Graham is a main board director and head of the workplace sector. He was also directly involved in the development of the BDP studio in India.

Prior to moving to London (2011), Graham spent his 20 plus years with BDP based in Scotland. He has chaired the architecture profession and was BDP’s process director in addition to his other roles.

Of the projects he has led, he is particularly proud of the Scottish Record Office, the Scottish Widows HQ, and the Scottish Enterprise HQ; the latter won a national BCO award.

In his profession and sector roles for the practice he believes he has helped BDP become the strongest group of designers in the UK and is using this specialist expertise to strengthen the workplace sector internationally.

What will architectural practices be like in the future?
“In architecture, knowledge and professional competence, including in the crucial matter of sustainable development, will be increasingly codified and widely available. As architects, our value will be increasingly determined by the cultural meaning and simple delight we can bring to dense urban living.”
