Atlantic Quay

Masterplan and design of six buildings in two phases.

Atlantic Quay comprises a group of six office buildings located in Glasgow's city centre waterfront area, the Broomielaw.

They respond to the scale and civic presence of their neighbours while meeting the most stringent needs of today’s modern occupiers, offering large office floorplates in the commercial heart of Glasgow.

Brief

  • prepare masterplan for Atlantic Quay Glasgow’s fast growing city quarter
  • extend the city's commercial core into the Broomielaw area
  • link the city in a positive way to the River Clyde with a coherent appropriately scaled frontage

Results

  • consistent with the original object of designing a family of buildings
  • the buildings share the same deliberately limited palette of external materials
  • Awards: Scottish Civic Trust Award 1992, Regeneration Of Scotland Design Commendation 1991
