Hangzhou Masterplan

The proposal is to create a new district close to the famous Hangzhou West Lake that links to the City Centre.

A group of traditional dwellings is converted into a small scale retail area contrasting with the strong forms and large scale of the surrounding residential development.

Brief

  • prepare concept designs for mixed use regeneration project
    To provide an urban regeneration strategy, with an approach that recognises the existing context; within a vision that accommodates a rapidly changing pattern of activity

Results

  • the concept for the whole project is the idea that the new residential areas act as a backdrop to the traditional clusters, almost like mountains and the treatment of the architecture will reflect this
