Nanjing Medical University, China

BDP’s design presents a strong architectural form that unites the two buildings, and responds to the landscape setting of the campus masterplan.

The new Faculty of Medicine is a teaching and research building, the other is an administrative building which also contains a museum and conference auditoria.

The buildings project out over an existing lake, and new landscape interventions include an island, from which each building is approached by means of bridges, courtyard gardens and planted glazed atria.

The sustainable design of the buildings responds to the specific climatic conditions of Jiangsu province while providing opportunities for students, staff and visitors to enjoy access to internal or external landscaped spaces throughout the year.
