“The delivery of a holistic sustainable design sits at the centre of the BDP design philosophy and our leadership culture.”
Steve Merridew, head of sustainability
BDP’s approach to sustainable design spans from the macro scale, through the creation of sustainable urban environments, to the micro scale, through the specification of individual building systems and components.
We create environments which are economically vibrant, socially cohesive and sit comfortably within their surroundings. We build project teams made up of our designers, ecologists, sustainability specialists and engineers to create environments which are demonstrably sustainable; through their resource consumption, their ecological impact, and their contribution to the local, economic and cultural landscape.
As a practice we have proven experience in the delivery of sustainable developments including the first BREEAM Outstanding office in the UK, 7 More London; the lowest energy primary school in Ireland, Gaelscoil An Eiscir Riada and Nanjing Eco-housing in China which challenges the UK zero carbon homes standards.
True sustainability lies in meeting the 'triple bottom line' of environmental, social and economic considerations; we help clients meet these aims without incurring higher capital costs.
