Björn is an architect director and leads the Rotterdam studio.

Björn Bleumink combines his passion for human centred architecture and the creation of livable, adaptable cities in one holistic design approach in which architecture, urban design and landscape are seamlessly connected.

With a strong focus on the public realm as active and vibrant space, and with the common domain as incubator for strong and coherent communities, Björn’s vision fits well in the Dutch social housing tradition. Björn has over twenty years of experience at internationally renowned design practices and has a large track record of masterplans and architectural projects across the housing, leisure, education and healthcare sector

An oasis of knowledge in the city

In the city centre of The Hague, we transformed a former department store into a multifunctional education building as part of Leiden University’s Campus The Hague.

The Police is developing a new campus on an empty plot of about 10 hectares on the edge of the Bosrijk district. BDP researched the possibilities of this location in a vision with a strong focus on the shared use of facilities and on the landscape as a connecting element.

Spikvoorde is part of the large development of de Vijfhoek in the easternmost corner of Deventer. Its urban design reflects the adjacent rural landscape of Salland

Zuyderzee Lyceum

The Zuyderzee Lyceum is a public school with an education structure designed to nurture talent, develop skills and create passionate, knowledgeable young people.

Metropolis Lyceum

Located within a mere 800 metres of De Pont Buiksloterweg, the school is designed to support the Dalton Education system and to meet the future-oriented educational vision that the organisation promotes to offer students freedom of learning within a clear structure.

Montessori Primary School and Nursery Houtwijk

MKC Houtwijk combines a Montessori primary school with a nursery, after school care and a gym in an adventurous educational landscape.

Westergouwe Community Centre, Gouda

The Westergouwe Community Centre will provide one of the largest child centres in the Netherlands including a primary school for 1,200 children with additional daycare services. The development will also provide a modern sports hall, community program and 40 affordable apartments.
