Where: BDP, 16 Brewhouse Yard, London EC1V 4LJ
BDP’s London studio is once again pleased to be hosting the Academy of Urbanism’s Learning from Europe seminar which takes place the evening before the Academy’s annual awards ceremony. Chair of Landscape Architecture and of BDP Khandekar, Andrew Tindsley, will introduce the event which, this year, welcomes delegations from the cities of Bologna, San Sebastian and Stockholm who will present their cities prior to finding out the following day which one has won the title of European City of the Year.
Bologna is one of Europe’s oldest university cities and a food capital which is now embracing philanthropic enterprise to rebuild democratic confidence. San Sebastian will be European Capital of Culture 2016 and is continuing to build its strengths in commerce, technology, higher education and the natural environment. Stockholm aims to be a fossil fuel-free city by 2050 and is investing over €100bn over the next five years in the development of new homes and workspaces alongside transport infrastructure and the public realm. Tickets for the evening can be booked here http://www.academyofurbanism.org.uk/events/learning-from-europe/
Our urbanism team will also be attending the Urbanism Awards ceremony the following day to recognise their work on Deptford High Street which is one of three schemes shortlisted for the Great Street Award.
