Global Urban Regeneration & Academic Forum

When: Friday 9th December 08.00 – 17.00
Where: Shanghai, China

Shanghai studio architect director Peter Marshall is a speaker during the afternoon session at the Global Urban Regeneration & Academic Forum when he will present Liverpool One and London’s Nine Elms as case studies of successful city regeneration.  BDP’s award winning masterplan for Liverpool One transformed a  42-acre area of the city centre to create a mixed-used development of new and refurbished buildings, streets and spaces.  New elements include 148,500 sq m of retail space, bars, restaurants, a bus station, BBC studios and a remodelled park bordered by a hotel, 600 apartments and a new multi-screen cinema.

At Nine Elms BDP is working on the New Covent Market which will provide modern facilities consolidated on one site for the 200 tenant businesses which currently employ over 2,500 people. This will sit alongside a new food quarter as part of the new market, known as The Garden. Three high quality residential neighbourhoods comprising 3,000 new homes will also be created, complemented by office space, retail, leisure and new community facilities, including shops, cafés and restaurants.
