Clerkenwell Design Week

When: 21st – 23rd May 11.00 – 18.00
Where: BDP, 16 Brewhouse Yard, London EC1V 4LJ

For Clerkenwell Design Week London studio will again be hosting an exhibition by the furniture and product design students of The Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design at London Metropolitan University. The students have been asked to design and create products for leading London design company SCP, to fit with its Boxed collection which is typified by items that can be posted easily to customers. The pieces exhibited are either products or furniture ranging from small tables, stools and storage to a dustpan and brush and reflect the existing collection’s use of materials and processes. The students will be hosting free drop in workshops from 13.30 each day so visitors can craft a selection of small products to take away with them.

BDP website manager Radek Kaminski will be one of the speakers for a breakfast event during Clerkenwell Design Week, organised by Archiboo, and to be held at Shaw Contract from 08.30 to 10.00 on Thursday 23 May. Radek will join past winners of the Archiboo Web Awards, representing design, video, content, social and technology, to share their tips on online success and discuss design and social trends and maximising reader engagement. The event is free to attend with coffee and networking before the speakers and tickets can be booked using the link below.

We are also fielding teams for the global sensation that is Aeron Hockey, coming to Clerkenwell Design Week for the first time to celebrate 25 years since the chair’s launch and held at Herman Miller’s pop-up installation in Brewhouse Yard. Two teams of five players sitting on Aeron chairs battle it out during a ten-minute match and a rolling tournament will give everyone from beginners through to experienced players a chance to play for the reds or the blues, with the winning side announced on the final evening.

Our lighting designers also worked with design team behind BottleHouse to create a lantern installation from 100% recycled plastic bottles.

Celebrating its 10th year the award-winning Clerkenwell Design Week has firmly established itself as the UK’s leading independent design festival and annually attracts the international design community to this small area of London for three days of exciting events. Registration is essential and can be done using the link below.
