Michelle McDowell is the First Woman of Property

Just days after being awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours Michelle McDowell has done it again and has won the Property category of the First Women Awards 2010 announced last night (23rd June 2010).

Michelle who is chair of civil and structural engineering at BDP also became the first woman chair of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) at the beginning of the year.

The First Women Awards, established in 2005, celebrate trailblazing and pioneering women, who are in business, genuine "glass ceiling breakers". They aim to unearth women whose achievement and individual actions have helped and are helping to remove barriers and open up opportunities for others to follow.

The award was presented by the First Woman of Property 2008, Sandi Rhys Jones OBE –the non-exec chairman of EngineeringUK - who particularly commended Michelle for her mentoring role.
