BDP appointed for hospital redevelopment

An interdisciplinary team from BDP has been appointed by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust to redevelop two hospital sites, and to assist with the preparation of the Full Business Cases and subsequently to manage the redevelopment of the new facilities.  BDP will provide architectural, interior design, building services engineering, civil & structural engineering, acoustics and BREEAM services, working with Sweett Group who is project manager, quantity surveyor and CDM.

Heatherwood hospital, the largest of the developments, will be a new build facility for planned surgical interventions to support the delivery of excellent outcomes for patients.  The two developments at Wexham Park Hospital will include the refurbishment and new build extension to the Emergency Department to improve patient specialist care, and the redevelopment of Women’s Services to develop an improved and fit for purpose facility. The size of the redevelopments will be 19,000m², with a combined value of £85m.

The project will greatly enhance the existing health facilities and provide improved services to the local and wider community, with Heatherwood and Wexham Park hospitals serving half a million people.
