BDP has been selected as a finalist in the BIM Excellence category of the Construction News Awards, making the shortlist from among a record number of entrants.
Last year BDP became the first practice in the UK and Ireland to be assessed and certificated under BRE Global’s BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification Scheme. We also entered a three year global Enterprise Business Agreement (EBA) with Autodesk, and were the first practice in the UK to reach such an agreement. Also during the year BDP was part of the winning team that developed the NBS BIM toolkit on behalf of HM Government.
Engineering director Steve Merridew said “Our digital engineering strategy gives our building services engineers the skills and technology to fully realise the opportunities BIM can provide. On the University of Central Lancashire's New Engineering Innovation Centre, our engineers are actively engaged in information modelling, design coordination and the integration of scheduling and calculations - the outputs of which add value to our end user, architect and contractor clients. By also embedding computer programming skills in our teams, repetitive tasks are automated creating space for our engineers to engage fully in the design process and develop creative and innovative engineering solutions. We believe our strategy of having our engineers actively designing and documenting within a BIM environment is unique in the industry.”
The winners will be announced on 14 July at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, where over 1,300 of the industry’s elite will come together for a night of entertainment, celebration and networking.
