Plans submitted for luxury compact hotel

Plans have been submitted for a new 155-bedroom compact luxury hotel, designed by BDP, on the site of the former Andrews Lane Theatre in Dublin city centre.

The scheme for Appalachian Property Holdings creates a new concept in the city and provides basic hotel services at affordable prices to counter the guest accommodation shortage in the city.

The bedrooms will be around 15 sqm with a reception and coffee dock provided on the ground floor level. A self-service check-in facility is also planned for the hotel.

The nine-storey development involves the demolition of the old theatre, currently a nightclub, and will feature arched openings along one side with one corner featuring a double-height setback entrance for guests.

BDP is architect, environmental engineer and civil and structural engineer on the €21m project which is expected to open in spring 2019.
