BDP Wins Top Prize at Revo Gold Awards

BDP’s retail team has won the best of the best award at the REVO Gold Awards for the Lexicon Bracknell. The announcement was made last night [6 December] at an award ceremony in London.

It was a clean sweep for BDP as all of our shortlisted projects won their categories, claiming three of the five design awards. The winning projects are Lexicon Bracknell for Re:new, Boxpark Croydon for Re:lax and East Kilbride Leisure Hub for Re:fresh. The best of the best award was voted for by the guests at the annual dinner chosen from all the category winners.

Peter Coleman head of retail at BDP said: “This is a fantastic night for us and our clients. To win three awards in one evening is both unusual and delightful for the team, and then to win the best of the best is the cherry on the cake and retains BDP at the forefront of contemporary retail design.”

The judges commented on The Lexicon: "In Bracknell, Schroders and Legal and General have redefined the town, bringing a new Fenwicks, M&S, and a raft of new retailers along with a Cineworld and associated catering offers. A combination of new architecture, refurbished buildings and retained listed buildings has created an impressive destination. We felt that the scheme, which has let well, will establish Bracknell as a dominant force in the region."

They also said: "Croydon and Boxpark’s F&B development is a real stimulus to Croydon where true collaboration between Schroders (Land), Croydon Council (Funding) and Box Park (invention) have created a real place, which now firmly cements this fast developing area into the UK list of cool places to visit. A wide range of offers are on show from more established brands such as Meat Liquor to start up kitchens such as Coqfighter Chicken and Beer. This is then supported with over 200 events a year from fitness classes, baby discos to full bore gigs."

For East Kilbride Leisure Hub comments were: "Orion has developed a comprehensive adaption of their centre. We were surprised by the quality of the refurbishment and scale of transformation; a tired and dilapidated mall changed into a point of real difference in the centre. The team has managed not only to bring a raft of new restaurants to the scheme but have, along with the local authority rejuvenated their ice rink bringing to it a dynamic climbing experience suspended above the ice. A well-considered and executed development."
