BDP wins University Teaching and Learning Building

BDP has been commissioned by the University of Strathclyde to design a £41m teaching and learning building.

The 20,000 sqm scheme strips out and refurbishes two existing buildings, the Colville Building and the B-listed Architecture Building, and also creates a new hub and heartspace in between overlooking the university’s Rottenrow Gardens.

Architect director Christoph Ackermann said: “we are very excited about working for the University of Strathclyde once again. This project is an exciting opportunity for us to create another landmark building that sits at the cutting edge of contemporary higher educational thinking.”

BDP is appointed as architect, landscape architect, interior, graphic and lighting designer. The new building is due to complete in 2019 and follows on from the university’s award winning Technology and Innovation Centre also designed by BDP which completed in February 2015.
