The Future of Sustainable Building Design

When: Thursday 24 October 13.00 – 14.00
Where: Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland, 38 Merrion Square, Dublin

Building Services Engineering associate Patrick Kavanagh is presenting a CPD on the future of sustainable building design for the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland. The Irish government has released its new Climate Action Plan, which includes the legalisation of the latest Energy Performance of Building Directive (EPBD 2018), and Patrick will summarise its future impact. He will talk about why the construction industry needs to be looking beyond NZEB and reference some of the current, highly sustainable projects designed by our Dublin studio. These include the mixed use Bonham Quay development in Galway which has a zero carbon target and where environmental performance is key, especially as it is on a contaminated urban site. The new ESB Headquarters in Dublin provides a world class example of sustainable design and innovation and combines passive and active methods to produce a sustainable exemplar office space.
