Simeon Shtebunaev helps Launch Youth Manifesto at Commonwealth Forum

The youth manifesto Powering our Common Future: Urbanism in the Commonwealth was launched during the Commonwealth Youth Forum which offers young people the opportunity to discuss the challenges they face in the built environment. It took place as part of the five-day 2018 summit where leaders from the government and built environment addressed global challenges, keeping with this year’s theme Towards a common future.

Architectural and planning assistant Simeon Shtebunaev was joined by fellow member of the Commonwealth Association of (young) Architects Selasi Setufe as well as member of the Commonwealth Association of (young) Planners Viral Desai to develop the manifesto which outlines the views of young industry professionals on how they can influence urbanism and sustainability in order to shape and improve our environment. They presented to the Commonwealth Association of Planners and Architects on Tuesday 17 April and gained interest from the Royal Commonwealth Society and the Prince’s Foundation. The manifesto has influenced the action plan of the Commonwealth Youth Forum and the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting processes.

The team see the publication as a starting point of a bigger engagement process and are looking to deliver on points through engaging with practices and the public.
