New Bristol Studio Chairman Announced

BDP has announced the appointment of Company Director, Andrew Whitehurst, as Chairman of the Bristol studio. Heading up the 60 strong multi-disciplinary design office he provides strategic leadership of the architectural, civil & structural engineering, landscape architecture and urban design teams working across a wide range of sectors, project types and sizes.

Andrew has had a long career at BDP and has been involved in many of the Practice’s most significant projects including the redevelopment of The Royal Albert Hall, the UK Channel Tunnel Terminal and University projects in London, Cambridge and Oxford as well as new schools and academies, working with many of the UK’s leading Clients and Contractors. He joined BDP London in 1990 and became Executive Director of the BDP London Living & Learning Studio in 2005. Following a move to the West Country in 2013 he was responsible for the commercial and operational management of the Bristol studio. Andrew’s appointment as Chairman of the studio follows the retirement of Martin Sutcliffe in the summer of this year.

The BDP Bristol studio has an outstanding reputation for high quality design and delivery. We have recently been appointed to develop three hospital sites with Frimley NHS Trust and are involved in the design of a number of schools and higher education projects. Our involvement with Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ongoing and we are about to begin work with Cardiff University as Masterplanner and Landscape Architect on their new Innovation Campus. It is a very exciting time for our talented team of architects, engineers, landscape and urban designers as we work closely with new and existing Clients to deliver exceptional buildings that represent great value for money.
