Project details

This project involved the refurbishment of an existing building to provide teaching and living accommodation. It also included new build facilities for Adolescent Care.

The existing building required careful co-ordination of services.  Particular care was also required whilst working within a live campus.

Brief

due to the nature of adolescent care, a number of particular design issues had to be addressed:

  • security without generating an institutional environment
  • low surface temperature heating and the removal of potentially harmful services elements from bedrooms

Results

  • inspiring accommodation that is non-institutional and provides a quality environment for staff and clients
  • RIAI – Best Healthcare Building 2011 award
