The Hive, Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew

Facts

Location Client Completion
London, UK Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew 2016

Project details

The Hive, originally the centrepiece of the multi-award winning UK Pavilion at the Milan Expo, now has a new home at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.

Our landscape team worked closely with Wolfgang Buttress, the artist responsible for the Hive, to create a sympathetic landscape setting for the installation that would take visitors on an immersive journey through a colourful and vibrant wildflower meadow and into the world of the honeybee.

As the meadow develops and various plant species come into flower the sounds and sights of the bees within The Hive are accompanied by real bees within the meadow, creating a multi-layered, multi-sensory experience.
