Nantou Ancient City, Public Realm

Facts

Location Client Completion
Shenzhen, Guangdong, China Bureau of Public Works of Nanshan District, Shenzhen (NSWB) 2012

Project details

In this public realm design we considered the influence of both historic and existing structures to ensure integration into, and respect for, the new urban environment.

Historic buildings, structures and spaces are being identified and restored while introducing window frontages and canopies, new signage and improved lighting.
Pedestrian movement will be encouraged along the historic city wall which is an important connection between the city and the park.

This will be the point at which the old and new worlds meet

Nick Edwards landscape director

  • providing a linear space for a broad range of public activities extending from east to west, following  the grain of the city and the natural topography
