Roscommon County Hospital A&E Department

Facts

Location Client Cost Completion
Co. Roscommon, Ireland HSE West €5.1m 2004

Project details

BDP were engaged as M&E Engineers for the proposed new Accident and Emergency Department and Medical Records area at Roscommon County Hospital, built on the site of the existing A&E Department and Medical Records area.  This project involved complex co-ordination of services within an existing hospital and completion of works while the hospital is live.

In order to maintain continuity of services to patients, the project was completed in clearly defined stages, including the construction of new temporary buildings in front of the existing Radiology Department to accommodate the existing A&E and ancillary rooms for the duration of the new build project.

A significant amount of enabling works was required to facilitate the development, including the diversion of electrical supplies, heating mains, water services, telephone and data, and the provision of a new water supply to the hospital.
