Waitrose Bracknell

Facts

Location Client Cost Completion Awards
Berkshire, UK Bracknell Regeneration Partnership £6m 2011 2

Project details

This new supermarket is key to the regeneration of Bracknell.

Waitrose is the first new retail building to be developed in Bracknell town centre for over 25 years.

The building has been carefully designed to operate as a standalone supermarket, but as the larger redevelopment scheme proceeds it will operate as one of the anchor tenants.

The store features many innovations including an energy centre, a living wall, charger points for electric vehicles, green roofs and sun pipes.  The elevational treatment of the store and the construction off the canopies reflects the sustainable nature of the building by utilising timber from sustainable sources.

Brief

  • act as a catalyst for the regeneration of Bracknell
  • reflect the ‘greening’ of the town centre and the sustainability aspirations of the tenant
