Wuhan Shopping Mall

Facts

Location Client Completion
Wuhan, China Inter Ikea Centre Group 2015

Project details

Wuhan is known as ‘The City of a Thousand Lakes’.

Mixing, function, practicality and the sophisticated simplification of form, with the strong water element of the city, integrates the principles of Scandinavian design into the local Chinese context.

The exterior treatment of the building uses a palette which refers to water and rainfall. This reference is continued inside the scheme where it is combined with themes of seasons.

A high level pedestrian bridge links a light railway station to the heart of the scheme. This aspect is key in promoting footfall within the shopping centre.
