Up & Below, Marriott hotel

Facts

Location Client Cost Completion
Abu Dhabi, UAE Marriott Hotel Group AED 8.4 m / £1.6 m 2015

Project details

Following our successful work on the Courtyard, the Marriott Hotel Group commissioned us to design a new rooftop bar ‘Up & Below’. Located on level 12 of the Courtyard Marriott in the World Trade Centre, Up & Below is a new open to sky lounge. The design is based on a floating concept and has an undeniable lightness inviting visitors to hover above and elude the bustling streets of the city centre.
The project spans an area of 800 sqm and comprises two aesthetically and functionally distinct zones. The first zone, an adaptive reuse of the plant room, is the more energetic part of the bar with a fluid array of high tables and a limited number of seats to encourage interaction. The adjoining zone is more peaceful and has a smaller bar which is peripheral to the swimming pool. Firepits, swings, and cabannas add to the coziness of the setting.
