Katja has a wide variety of experience in the UK as a lighting designer.
Katja has a degree in lighting design from the School of Art and Media in Finland. She also worked there as a lighting designer prior to moving to the UK, and joined BDP in 2006.
Her passion for lighting design stems from her desire to satisfy the relationship between the technical and the artistic, in successfully piecing together a complicated puzzle. She believes that the user is central to any design scheme, in creating aesthetically pleasing ambience which promotes well-being.
She has worked on a wide range of interior and exterior projects in the UK and abroad including museums, exhibitions, leisure, theatres, historical restorations, retail, corporate and public realm.
Variety of lighting design projects and a possibility to work part-time after having children have created a satisfying work-life balance allowing me to keep up with the latest industry developments, both in technology and design, as well as look after my children.
