James is an architect and principal and he has contributed to many of the workplace studio's award winning projects.

He has led the design of several major interdisciplinary projects, including One Angel Square in Northampton, the BBC Mailbox in Birmingham, Royal Festival Hall Extension and various BBC Framework Projects. He is currently leading a major refurbishment of a 22 storey tower in Victoria for Westminster City Council.

He believes the most successful projects spring from effective interdisciplinary working, where innovation is stimulated by bringing talented individuals together from traditionally disparate disciplines.

What will architecture practices be like in the future?

“Totally design-focussed and immersed in a building information modelling environment, with closer links to developers and contractors.  Above all they’ll be doing sustainability and not talking about it.”
