Michael is an architect director in our Manchester studio and an education specialist.
He takes a lead on education projects in the north of England, and has designed and delivered a significant number of large, high-profile buildings across a variety of sectors, including masterplanning, education and workplace. A talented designer with a detailed understanding of education trends, he is ideally placed to resolve the challenges that can arise on school and university projects. Michael’s delivery experience creates the ability to influence project briefs and direct concept designs for innovative and inspiring places whilst providing clients with confidence that proposals can be delivered. He is a member of the reviewing panel for our bdplab which brings together the innovation and research explored across the practice, as well as acting as a stimulus for new research initiatives with both academia and industry.
Recent projects include the International Business School Suzhou at Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University (XJTLU) in China and the University of Warwick’s Masterplan and STEM Grand Challenge. Michael is currently leading the Manchester Metropolitan University’s Institute of Sport and Science and Engineering projects that together will provide 20,000 sqm of dynamic new teaching and research laboratories, academic workplace and self-directed learning space to enable a step change in science and engineering education focused around Industry 4.0.
