Bristol's groundbreaking super-hospital at Southmead has reached a major milestone in its development with the announcement that Carillion is the front runner to design and build the new £430 million PFI scheme. BDP is appointed as architect, with TPS as structural engineer and DSSR as building services engineer.
This news means that North Bristol NHS Trust will work with Carillion to complete the detailed designs for the new state-of-the-art 800-bed hospital.
It will open its doors to its first patients in 2013/14.
