BDP swept the board winning three out of the five categories at the British Council for Offices (BCO) Scotland region awards, reflecting its pre-eminence in fit-out, new-build and refurbishment with projects ranging from £1m to £40m. The winners were announced on 21 April at a lunchtime ceremony in Edinburgh.
The projects were:
West Lothian Civic Centre - Best Corporate Workplace
Tanfield, Edinburgh - Best Refurbished/Recycled Workplace
PricewaterhouseCoopers Fit-Out, at 141 Bothwell Street, Glasgow – Best Fit-out of Workplace
The ceremony culminated with the announcement that the sole Scottish project to go forward to the BCO National Awards in October, which celebrate the very best in UK office design, was BDP’s West Lothian Civic Centre. Chairman of the Scottish judges, John Shepherd, described the project as “a prototype for the future of public sector offices.”
BDP architect director, Bruce Kennedy, said: “To win the BCO award in three out of five categories is a fantastic endorsement of BDP’s innovative and informed approach to the design of workplaces at every scale, value and type. These three awards recognise the quality of BDP’s work across projects ranging from stimulating, high quality office fit-out, right up to major new-build sustainable offices and the adaptation of existing buildings making them fit to meet the needs of the current office market.”
