BDP reveals designs for Wuhan masterplan

BDP has won the commission for a masterplan in the financial district of Wuhan, China, known as ‘The City of a Thousand Lakes’.  The Wuhan Tahan masterplan is an 18 hectare office led mixed use development, strategically located in the city centre with close links to Wuhan Plaza business district, the Financial Business Centre and Wangjiadun CBD.

The scheme creates a gateway for the transition from the city’s old business and trade district to the new emerging one. The design creates a modern urban complex integrating grade-A office buildings, with high end residential units, a terraced retail and entertainment podium and a 5 star hotel. It will be an integrated living and working environment defined by two landmark office towers.

BDP is providing masterplanning, architecture, public realm and interior design professions for the project which is due to commence on site later this year.

Also in Wuhan, BDP has led the design of a large scale shopping mall for InterIKEA China. Currently on site, it is due for completion at the end of 2015.
