A polished update for a former shoe factory: The Globe and Mail

The Globe and Mail recently featured the story behind the former Bata Shoe Factory building, and how an entrepreneur from Czechoslovakia made the town of Batawa in southeastern Ontario what it is today. BDP Quadrangle worked closely with the late Mrs. Bata to convert the former factory to a residential complex that touts a simple, modernist design. The project earned a 2020 Green Building award, with its emphasis on energy performance and sustainability.
