Project details

BDP has been appointed as the delivery architect for 'The Tea Factory,' a project designed by Glenn Howells Architects in collaboration with developer Stoford. The adaptive reuse Typhoo Wharf factory in Digbeth will create a modern office and studio space for the BBC, contributing to the wider regeneration of the district.

The project involves refurbishing and extending existing buildings to deliver 84,001 sq ft of new commercial space for the BBC and 2,884 sq ft of leisure space. With a focus on sustainability, the design includes rainwater harvesting, south-facing photovoltaics for electricity generation, and a brown roof to enhance local biodiversity.

Typhoo Wharf's broader revitalisation will add over 800,000 sq ft of new residential and commercial developments, public spaces, and improved transport connections.
