Mount Street Public Realm

Facts

Location Client Completion
London, UK Grosvenor 2011

Project details

We have upgraded the streetscape in terms of composition, surfacing materials and furniture elements.

The grandeur of this area has been revived through improvements to the pedestrian experience, the removal of clutter and the putting in place of high quality surfacing materials, by strengthening the street’s relationship to its buildings.

At the heart of the scheme is a sculptural water feature ‘Silence’ by Japanese architect Tadao Ando. The installation is lined with circular glass lenses that illuminate the water at night reflecting light into two retained mature trees. Water spills uniformly over the feature’s perimeter whilst projecting jets emit a moist haze to further animate this distinctive place.

This imaginative and well-executed scheme enhances the public realm significantly.
