Project details

This creates a comprehensive style-guide for all future development on the island, including design guidelines for any future building development, landscaping and public realm.

The initiative aims  to transform a group of natural islands off the coast of Abu Dhabi’s Western Region into one of the largest environmentally friendly island tourist destinations in the world.

It covers everything from the look of street furniture, signage and wildlife observation hides through to the construction of new hotels, transport interchanges and other major physical infrastructure.

Brief

  • produce a planning and design ‘handbook’ for Sir Bani Yas Island - a 34 sq mile visitor destination for environmental and conservation tourism

Results

  • preparation of guidelines for a unique environment that addresses the needs of modern tourists and simultaneously maintains an ecosystem that supports thousands of free-roaming animals and several million trees and plants
