Project details

The Engineering Innovation Centre (EIC) is an integrated space for teaching, research and knowledge exchange. It forms a new focal point for the university and sits alongside the student centre framing Adelphi Square.

Working alongside Reiach and Hall Architects and SimpsonHaugh and Partners, we engineered and lit the five storey glazed atrium facing the square. The atrium provides a visual connection back to the city showcasing the activities inside the building.

A variable volume ventilation system is provided in the laboratory facilities to minimise energy demand, whilst the building services living laboratory showcases renewable technologies such as CHP, fuel cells, PV panels and heat pumps. The building is designed to achieve BREEAM Excellent and an EPC A rating.
